Lakh Batti (लाख बत्ती) is a traditional practice of burning one hundred thousand (लाख बत्ती) lights (Battis) as an offering to god.
These cotton light wicks are hand made by women in Nepal. Each wicks are are hand rolled out of small blobs of cotton, and bundled strand by strand . Lakh batti is one of the most popular rites in Nepali Culture. Though it is called lakh batti we are offering here 125,000 pieces (sawa lakh) wicks for the ritual.
The lakh batti ceremony is set in motion to remove obstacles and bad omens. Burning one hundred thousand wicks requires dedication and focus which translates to meditation or karma. In Hinduism, every Karma bears fruit and thus this karma is believed to change course of happenings through divine intervention.
